On Tuesday 6th October, the Post 16 Centre hosted the Hit the Ground Running evening. This was aimed at providing advice and guidance to parents of Year 12 students on how best to manage the transition from GCSE to Further Education. Mr Farmer, Pastoral Leader for Post 16, gave a 45 minute presentation that ranged over several important areas, from managing the work/life balance to the first steps in the UCAS process. Parents were given the opportunity to discuss what they thought were the qualities of a great student and were also given practical strategies to support their sons and daughters at this exciting but challenging time. There was also the chance for parents to ask questions of Mr Farmer and Dr Hall, Strategic Head of Post 16 Education, or to seek additional guidance. The evening was well-attended, with more than forty parents and students present and parents left feeling much better informed on how best to support their Post 16 learners.

I found this event useful to make sure that I got off to a good start in my A level studies, now we have all adjusted from GCSE. It was really well presented and full of handy tips to make sure sixth form life runs smoothly. Great job Mr Farmer!
