The Religious Studies department have been learning about the damaging affect of prejudice and discrimination in society by learning more about Holocaust Memorial Day 2017.  This year’s theme is called ‘how can life go on?’ which explores how similar prejudices can be seen toward Muslims in our society as those seen towards Jews under Hitler’s regime. Students heard personal stories from holocaust survivors and discussed what it means to stand up and help others who may be discriminated against.  Great debates were stirred as we naturally discussed the actions of Donald Trump, Malala Yousafzai and Doaa Elabashy.  Students are encouraged to watch the very powerful special edition of Antiques Roadshow which can be found on BBC iPlayer. Please do watch and listen to the moving true stories of Holocaust survivors.
