Welcome to English, Media and Communications
We think we are a very lucky group of teachers: we work with every student in the school from Year 7 to 11 teaching a subject that is enjoyable, accessible and vital to each and every one of you. We are still in the early stages of developing our website and will be adding to it as time goes on, so make sure you visit regularly. You may even see some of your own work here.
All students in Years 7 - 9 follow courses informed by the National Curriculum. You can view an on-line summary of these here.
The Department offers a range of courses for KS4 students and for those who continue their studies into the Sixth Form. You can view the full exam board specifications by following the links.
- AQA GCSE English
- AQA GCSE English Literature
- AQA GCSE Media Studies
- AQA AS/A2 English Literature
- AQA AS/A2 Communication Studies
- AQA AS/A2 Media Studies
- OCR National Certificate in Media Studies
All of the above courses involve students completing coursework assignments. The various exam boards have strict rules about how much help can be given by teachers and parents. We strongly recommend that you read a leaflet produced by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority entitled "Coursework: A Guide for Parents". This publication can be downloaded from the QCA website at http://www.ofqual.gov.uk/86.aspx
