Hele's School

Hele's School A great place to learn. A great place to grow.

Arrangements for Joining Hele's

August 12th Results Day

I hope you are pleased with the results you have received today. If they are not quite what you expected, you do not need to worry. We are happy to help all students, whether or not they had originally applied to join Post 16.

Dealing with queries — Before the Start of Term

If you have not met the entry requirements for entry onto the A level courses you have chosen, or your results mean that you have had a rethink about your choices, please email Mr Stone on stoneka@heles.plymouth.sch.uk and we can make appropriate arrangements to support you. For most students we simply change the subjects and there are no concerns; for some students it is more appropriate to arrange an interview and for your parents to attend.

If you have been made an offer to join Hele’s School and you will be accepting an alternative offer elsewhere, please email Mr Stone.

Induction Tasks

As previously advised, an Induction Task for each subject is now posted on the school website, in the Post 16 section, under the Induction Tasks tab. We ask all students returning to us for Y12 study to access the website and complete these for the relevant A level subjects. Deadline for completion is the Wednesday 8th September, when they will be referred to in lessons. These tasks are designed to enable you to start thinking in more depth about the subject chosen, or to practice and extend skills developed at GCSE level. We expect you all to make this first step towards advanced level study independently and to be able to evidence the work done over the summer in a format appropriate to the task.

Lateral Flow Testing Prior to the Start of Term

Please refer to the letter emailed on 15th July. All year 12 students will be tested on Monday 6th September. An appointment time will be emailed to you or your parent/carer.

Start of Term

Year 12 students start school on Tuesday 7th September at 08:40am. Timetables will be issued and teaching will start period 3 after meeting your tutor in periods 1 and 2. Please make sure you continue to monitor your email account for information on Lateral flow testing for the start of term.

We look forward to seeing you, refreshed from a long summer break, in early September.

Mr Stone

Director of Post 16
